What is a basic installation?
  • 24" x 36" elliptical dish installation and associated hardware
  • Installation of roof/wall mount hardware
  • 2 feeds of 75 feet of cable (totaling 150 feet) between the dish and the indoor equipment. Interior cables will be exposed (not pulled within the walls)
  • Pointing and fine-tuning the StarBand system
  • Creating or using one existing point of entry into the home for the two cables that will be used for your StarBand system
  • Installing a wall plate on the interior side of the point of entry (similar to those used in cable TV industry)
  • Configuration of the StarBand satellite modem
  • Ensuring your StarBand service is up and running on one PC
  • 90-day installation warranty

Where will the antenna be mounted and what are my mounting options?
The placement of the StarBand equipment will vary depending on the home or building structure in which the system is installed. Three types of mounting options are available:

  • Tri-mast roof mount - Mounted on the roof or wall. This is the basic installation and is included with your StarBand equipment. It may not be suitable for a commercial building.
  • A pole mount - Mounted in the ground next to install location.
  • Non-penetrating mount - Mounted on the flat roof of home or building; most commonly used at commercial locations.

What are the line of sight requirements for the StarBand antenna?
The dish antenna must have an unobstructed view of the satellite in order for the service to function, meaning that no buildings, trees, etc. can block the path between your antenna and the satellite.

Who is responsible for licenses, permits, landlord approvals, etc. that may be required for the installation of my antenna?
StarBand operates under a general FCC license for the service. You are responsible for all local approvals, permits, landlord approvals, approvals from homeowners associations, etc. When the installer arrives on site, he or she will assume that you have secured any and all required permits, approvals, etc.

My Home Owner's Association (HOA) won't allow a satellite dish to be installed at my home. Am I protected from this restriction?
Yes. The FCC has pre-empted Home Owners Association rules preventing the installation of satellite dishes. Please see http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html for more details.
